En Electric

Just when I.S.A.F. Timișoara 2012 (International Street Art Festival) was done, I received a phone call regarding a commissioned project for ENEL. Big one.

Press article about this project on ZiuaDeVest & other websites.

It is about "City of Energy", held in a few places in Romania: Bucharest, Timișoara and Constanța.
Alex Baciu and I represented the whole west side of Romania: Timișoara.
Oh... and both of us were born in the east side of the country.
After two months, we finally got started.
~ 100 sq meters to paint, walls up to 5 meters high, over 175 meters of paper tape, every possibble kind of weather: sun, wind, rain, snow, either day or night, 10 days of hard work, a bit over 13.000 photos taken and the good old luck.

The whole project reveals the energy.
During the day in our houses, cities, world, very important to a human being, and by night, when the forces of nature amaze us and our very own creation power, energy and inspiration, thanks to... electricity.
My inspiration came from industrial signs for electricity, the color spectrum of thunderstorms, lightning bolts and their massive power.
Didn't thought I would work in that time of the year, but it was a real joy and a pain in the ass at the same time.
Learned a lot from this unique experience.

Happy holidays and a great new year!

Dinosaucers

Second year of I.S.A.F. (International Street Art Festival) in Timișoara, new invitation for me.
My last year's work is still up there, getting noticed and putting a smile on my face everytime I see it.
This time, the Festival was held indoors (inside of a Mall complex) and some outdoor places.
2012 is the end of the world. As I post this work, there are 68 more days till the end of the world. Supposedly, by some "scientists".
My thoughts are somehow different. In the future, what if on a life supporting Mars, history will repeat itself. Dinosaurs become extinct.
Will an asteroid or our highly developed planet will do that? Who knows?

The truth is out there.
Because the location itself was overloaded with people, all of us got more or less feedback from people of all ages. Important stuff.
The walls were very good, near to canvas resemblance, so details On!
Second edition was slightly better than the last one.
New friends, cold white russians, good time.
Thanks to Karm, The Fly, Vasile, 2efs, Roxana and all the ones that made me smile, or not.

Typopassage TypeSpace 2012

At last, I've got some free time last week to get this project sorted out and up on my blog.
Typopassage Timișoara is a micro museum located in a public space, dedicated to graphic design and the art of shaping letters. It's the first international extension of Typopassage Vienna initiated by the genius Ovidiu Hrin and Bauer Konzept & design.
You can read more interesting things about the invited designers from 2012 edition and see how this mind blowing newspaper was made and it's multiple uses here.
In 2011, TPTM launched the Typ'O'wall - a 28 sq. meters graffiti covering the entire wall of the passage, with concept of the artwork related to typography. Thus, last year's subject "TypeFace", was brought to life thanks to my friend "Jones".
Now, in 2012, I was the lucky one.
Commissioned to rethink and paint the wall by the nature of it's subject, "TypeSpace", I've tried to do my best.
During that month, in may, the weather was shit.
It tooked me almost 5 days to paint this huge and pretentious wall, and all that time it was really cold and ranining.

Hard work. It was all about putting my balls at work.
Design, the list, cutting, repaint the wall, resolve on-the-way problems, cut some more stencils, swollen hands, sleepless, paint the wall, time crunch, drink a fucking beer.
All that time, Carabet Ovidiu was following every move I made, every step I took.
More than 8 hours a day, 5 days in a row, standing there and capturing a few thousand photos so this clip could be made. Great work and a big thanks to him, also.
(Right now I'm developing a new project with his help, that's why I'm on a delay on posting things here.)
The portraits belongs to the fathers of typography, each one having it's own constellation on this space themed wall.
Although without hard and dedicated work, you cannot achieve something good, it was that kind of experience that you'll hope on someday, you will get the change to live it again.
Thanks for all the wise words & this opportunity Ovidiu Hrin and all Synopsis Media staff, Stefan Lucut, Caius Mersa, D'Arc, Ovidiu Carabet, U-Man and all the ones that appreciated my work and didn't tried to destroy it.
The entire panorama should be seen at it's full resolution, by downloading it.
More photos from the event can be seen here.
